It's a clean sweep - bookies confirm Lib Dems set to win here

Liberal Democrats in Edinburgh North & Leith have reacted with delight to the news that all thirteen principal UK bookmakers and betting exchanges now make the Lib Dems the favourites to win a historic victory on Thursday.

Bet365, betfair, Betfred, Blue Square, Coral, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, sportingbet, totesport, Victor Chandler, VCBet, William Hill and 888sport now all predict a historic win for Liberal Democrat Kevin Lang, in a constituency which Labour has represented continuously since 1945.

In the past 24 hours, five of these thirteen have shortened their odds on a Lib Dem win and simultaneously lengthened the odds on Labour.

Campaign manager Alex Cole-Hamilton said, "There can be few - if any - times in history when such a lengthy period of political dominance was met with such a consensus for change by those whose livelihoods depend on getting their predictions right.

"Kevin and the campaign team have been getting a fantastic reception on the doorsteps and on the streets. More and more people are responding to our positive message of change and fairness, and understand that not only will Kevin be a magnificent local MP in standing up for our community, but that only the Liberal Democrats can beat Labour here.

"Labour has taken our area for granted for too long. With every extra person we persuade, and every extra vote we win, we are bringing that long chapter of complacency to a close. But even the bookmakers expect the result to be really tight - so we will be working flat out to win until 10pm on Thursday."
