Liberal Democrat campaign in Edinburgh North and Leith gets off to a flying start!

As time runs out for Gordon Brown to call the election and receive the verdict of the voters which he has avoided for so long, dozens of Liberal Democrats campaigners in Edinburgh North and Leith hit the streets on Easter Monday (5 April).
By the end of the day, 15,000 voters had been contacted by a Liberal Democrat - either in person or through the leaflets launching the Liberal Democrat campaign in one of the closest constituencies between the Lib Dems and Labour in Britain.
Kevin Lang, Liberal Democrat candidate for Edinburgh North and Leith, said, "we have had a fantastic day campaigning right across the constituency. From Pilton to Leith, from the New Town to Ravelston, tens of thousands of people have seen or heard our flying start to the general election campaign. More and more people are realising that this constituency will be a straight contest between the Liberal Democrats and Labour, with the other parties lagging well behind."
"I am excited and energised by the fantastic effort we are putting in, and the terrific reception we have received. Local people are impatient for change here, and they know that the Liberal Democrats are their only real chance to get it. Labour also know that time is running out on their record of complacency and failure."
