Campaigning for a fairer Britain and a change in Edinburgh North and Leith by electing Kevin Lang

Kevin Lang launches second summer report

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Edinburgh North & Leith, Kevin Lang has launched his second "Report back", which is now being delivered to 50,000 homes.

Kevin is increasingly the popular local choice to be the new local Member of Parliament for Edinburgh North & Leith, where the Liberal Democrats came a close second to Labour last time round.

His 2009 summer 'Report Back', which follows the success of last year's issue, outlines some of the issues he has been campaigning on with the local Liberal Democrat team such as jobs, crime and the environment.

In the '60 second interview', Kevin also explains why he wants to be the new local MP.

Kevin said,

"One of my key commitments if elected as our new MP is to work and keep in touch with the people of Edinburgh North & Leith all year round. That is what people expected from their Member of Parliament and it was this area deserves.

"The Liberal Democrats work hard to deliver regular newsletters and newspapers but I think it is important to produce something extra. My summer report last year generated a massive response, with people keen to get in touch to explain their own concerns or problems as well as to offer help for the campaign.

"This year's summer report gives a flavour of the issues that have been raised with me on the doorstep as I have gone round Edinburgh North & Leith, listening to people's concerns. Given the state of the economy, it is not surprising that jobs and the recession is the number one issue. However, there is still a real fear of crime and concern over the environment.

"Of course, a big change from last year is the MP's expenses scandal, which saw our own Labour MP repaying over £2,500. I have as angry as everyone else over the shameful way in which some MPs have used taxpayers' money. That is why I am promising to only claim for what I need effectively represent the people of Edinburgh North & Leith and to publish each and every expense claim on my website."
