Liberal Democrat have welcomed the publication of the long awaited Odour Improvement Plan at Seafield and the Batty Report into the major spillage last April is to go before Edinburgh City councillors.

Liberal Democrat councillor for Leith Marjorie Thomas said, "The Odour Improvement Plan, which has been on the drawing board for over two years identifies practical measures which should be introduced at Seafield to virtually rid the area of the stench which has blighted parts of Leith for years.

"Scottish Water has already invested in new measures which have reduced the number of complaints. However, this new report identifies how much more needs to be spent to implement the Odour Improvement Plan. The Batty Report into last year's spillage is also opportune, give the further failure at the plant just a few months ago."
