Mike Crockart and Nicol Stephen recently joined local police on the beat in Leith.

Liberal Democrat and former policeman, Mike Crockart will put tackling crime at the top of his agenda.

He recently joined Deputy First Minister Nicol Stephen MSP and local police to discuss the problem of crime and anti social behaviour in North Edinburgh.

Mike said, "I know more than most the misery that crime can cause. That is why I want to see more community police officers in our area to help reduce crime levels. We also need to see tougher community sentences and more support for the victims of crime. As Edinburgh North & Leith's MSP, I will make this a top priority."

Labour seem to have nothing new to offer on tackling crime. They are more interested in spin and party political point scoring than in serious solutions that will make a real difference to local people.

Mike Crockart's campaign is part of a nation wide campaign by the Liberal Democrats.
