MP and Baroness get Forth Campaign off to a Flying Start!

Liberal Democrat candidate for the new Forth ward, Elaine Morris, got her campaign off to a flying start this weekend, with help from Members of both the House of Commons and House of Lords.

Edinburgh West MP John Barrett and Lib Dem Local Government Spokesperson Baroness Scott joined Elaine to campaign in Pilton, where many residents are angry at being taken for granted by Labour.

John Barrett MP said, "I know many people are impressed with Elaine Morris' energy and enthusiasm, which compares starkly to the tired campaign being run by Labour. Elaine will make a first class councillor and is someone who will make a real difference for people in Pilton, Granton, Wardie and Trinity. Almost everyone we met today said they would be giving Elaine their first preference in the May 3rd council election."

Baroness Scott added, "As we went around Pilton, it was striking how many people said they felt taken for granted and that it was time for a change. Labour have run Edinburgh City Council for over 20 years but areas like Pilton and Granton have been forgotten with local residents ignored. The Liberal Democrats are providing a real positive alternative and I was delighted to be part of what is clearly a winning campaign."

Elaine said, "It was great to have the help of John Barrett MP and Baroness Scott, both of whom have a great deal of experience from a number of winning campaigns. It is clear that it is the Liberal Democrats with the real momentum in the Forth ward and the only party offering a positive package of policies for local people."
