Local Lib Dem Mike Crockart has met with Environment Minister Ross Finnie to discuss the flood prevention scheme proposal for the Water of Leith. The plans were drawn up after severe flooding in April 2000 that caused an estimated £25m worth of damage to around 600 homes and offices.

After the meeting Mike said, "I trust Ross Finnie to make a decision quickly that will finally end so many years of uncertainty."

Mr Finnie added, "Our consideration of the Water of Leith Flood prevention scheme has presented the Executive with many challenges but our consideration of the complex issues involved is nearing completion and we hope to conclude this as quickly as possible."
