Shock as Labour Council says....wait 13 YEARS for action!12.00.00am GMT Tue 13th Feb 2007
Local residents in one part of North Edinburgh reacted furiously when the Labour council told them they would have to wait up to 13 years for a new crossing. Residents in the Wardie and Boswall areas have been campaigning for a new pedestrian crossing on the busy Ferry Road. However, council officials warned that because the area was such a low priority, a staggering 13 year wait might be on the cards. Local Lib Dem campaigner Elaine Morris has launched a petition campaign for the new crossing. She said, "People have been left astonished and angry by this. Ferry Road is a busy road and there is no safe place here for people to cross. No wonder people are turning away from Labour and to the Lib Dems for positive local action."
